What is a “triple crown” in baseball?    It can refer to one of two things:

• It could be a batter who at the end of the season is at the top of the league in home runs, the batting average and the number of runs batted in, or…
• A pitcher who ends the season at the top of the leagues for strikeouts, wins and their earned run average.

In order to get a Triple Crown in baseball you have to be pretty amazing!  Given that it is so hard to do, it rarely occurs, and it hasn’t happened for a batter since 1967!

There is also a Triple Crown league.
